Maybe your parents did it, maybe your crazy Uncle did it, or maybe your family doesn’t see the good in it. All opinions aside, traveling in your 20’s is the best thing you can do for YOU. The 20’s are the times when we find ourselves, lose ourselves, and grow through our experiences. Here’s a list of why Sintra7 believes travel is the best to uncover the world and learn more about who you are. Written by the founder and owner of his personal experiences traveling.
Top 10 reasons to Travel in your 20’s
1) College is good and all, don’t get me wrong, but you learn more about yourself and other places by touching them with your feet, and a pack slung over your shoulders. I feel like I lived so much more of my life while traveling. 6 months on the road will give you a better education than four years at a university. Hands down.
“Normality is a paved road: It’s comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow.” – Vincent Van Gogh.
2) Van Gogh was right. Staying in your hometown with your same group of friends has its perks and is a great way to live, but the beauty you see in uncomfortable, unknown situations while traveling is like nothing else.
3) Parents have a funny way of reliving their life through their children. Children can become a vessel for parents to meet other parents and new friends while being proud of their children in all they do. They may seem turned off to the idea of travel but trust me they will see so much greatness in you if your able to experience something they haven’t had the chance too yet. We are all still those five-year-olds at the end of the day.
4) Maybe you do land that grown-up job in your late 20’s/early 30’s or you start your entrepreneur venture. Either way, the now is all we have and know to be true so follow your kindred spirit’s whisper and get out there.
Do you ever feel a little self-doubt and unconfident in your everyday routine? Do you ever feel stuck in your habits?
5) Trust us when we tell you, traveling brings you confidence and a fresh way of viewing your life. When you find your hostel or air b&b after a long day trek from Barcelona to Spain, you’ve accomplished something that will give you momentum and strength in all aspects of your life.
6) The universe has a way of letting you meet who you are meant to join while traveling. We are a big believer in the “Go with the Flow” mantra, and it holds true while traveling.
7) The inner fire to travel will never disappear as that is a true part of your destiny. Don’t be the one to look back 20 years from now still feeling that passion for a certain place you want to see. Follow your ambition and don’t look back.
8) There’s a friend out there who you may have joked with about traveling or gotten into a deep conversation with one night after a “couple” cocktails. Chances are you both need a push from each other. Bring it up to them and show your passion for it, the 20’s is your time.
9) Our wise-older family members envy the amount of energy we have in our 20’s. That energy is something never to take for granted.
10) “It is better to live your destiny imperfectly than to live an imitation of somebody else’s life with perfection.” The Bhagavad Gita–that ancient Indian Yogic text.
We will never know what lies on the other side of our comfort zone until we take the leap, the leap off the comfort edge into a life of imperfection. The perfect life envisioned like some utopia movie in where there is no wrong. Travel will have its highs and lows, its beauty and darkness, but it is better to experience your life your way instead of trying to live somebody else’s dream.
